Our new game Paint the Flag turns the flag quiz around: you get the name of a country and a blank flag, and you paint it from memory. Every stripe, cross, disc and star is yours to fill.
Sounds easy until you try it. Does Ireland end in orange or red? Is the cross on Norway's flag navy or blue? Which way does the triangle on the Czech flag point?
How it works
- Pick one of 15 paints and tap a part of the flag to fill it. Coats of arms and detailed emblems are already drawn for you, so you only paint the shapes around them.
- When every part is painted, press Check my flag. The right shade scores full marks. A near shade, like blue instead of navy or yellow instead of gold, scores half.
- Got something wrong? The real flag stays hidden. The wrong parts are outlined and you can try again, keeping the parts you got right. Stuck? Drag the line across your flag to see the real colors.
- 100% on the first try earns 3 stars. A second try can still earn 2. A hint or a look at the answer caps the flag at 1 star.
Fill in your Flag Atlas
The Flag Atlas shows every flag in the game, sorted Easy, Medium and Hard. Easy flags are the famous tricolors. Hard flags have five or more parts and shades that are easy to mix up. A flag only gets its colors in the Atlas once you paint it perfectly, so it becomes a real record of the flags you know. Filter by continent, search for a country, or press Surprise me.
