New Game: Planet Spotter

Planet Spotter on GeoFunGames: a 3D Solar System with the Sun, Earth, Jupiter and Saturn

Our new game Planet Spotter takes you into space: spin a living 3D Solar System and tap the right planet. The planets move along their orbits while you play, so you really have to look.

Can you tell Uranus from Neptune with the labels off? Do you know which planet is the hottest? It is not the one closest to the Sun.

How it works

  • A round has 10 questions of three kinds: Find it (spot a planet with the labels off), Riddles (like "Where is Olympus Mons?") and Compare (two planets glow, pick the bigger one, the one closer to the Sun, the one with more moons or the one with the longer day).
  • Drag to turn the Solar System and zoom in on any planet. It goes fullscreen when you start, and the X takes you back.
  • After every answer the camera flies to the right planet and shows a fact card: diameter, distance from the Sun, length of a day and a year, moons, temperature and how big it is next to Earth.
  • Switch to Real sizes to see the planets to scale with each other. Earth looks tiny next to Jupiter.

Be quick and keep the streak

Every right answer is worth 100, plus up to 50 for speed. Three right in a row multiply your points by 1.2, five in a row by 1.5. Stuck? A hint marks three planets, one of them right, for half the points. Your best score goes on the leaderboard, and a good run adds up to 25 points to your profile.

Free for everyone

Planet Spotter is free, needs no account and plays just as well on a phone. It works for kids learning the planets and for adults who think they already know them.
