Paint the Flag - the flag coloring game
Paint the Flag is a free flag game where you color in the flags of the world from memory. You see the name of a country and a blank flag split into its stripes, crosses, stars and discs. Pick from 15 paints, fill every part, then check your flag. Do you remember that Ireland ends in orange, not red? That the cross on Norway's flag is navy, not blue? Climb from the famous tricolors to the trickiest flags, all 195 of them.
How to play
- You get the name of a country and its flag, blank.
- Pick a paint, then tap a stripe, cross, disc or star to fill it. Coats of arms and detailed emblems are already drawn for you.
- When every part is painted, press Check my flag. Missed something? The wrong parts are outlined: try again, or drag the line over your flag to see the real colors.
- The right shade scores full marks. A near shade (blue instead of navy, yellow instead of gold) scores half. Only a flag with every part right counts as mastered.
Why play Paint the Flag?
- Learn every flag by heart: painting from memory sticks far better than picking from four choices
- Notice the details: the order of the stripes, which way a triangle points, navy or blue
- See exactly what you got wrong, then fix it on your next try
- Short rounds that fit a coffee break, on phone or desktop
Game features
- All 195 world flags, sorted Easy, Medium and Hard
- 15 paints with near shades that make you think
- A Flag Atlas that fills in with color as you master each flag
- Free to play, no download - points towards your explorer rank
About Paint the Flag
Most flag quizzes show you the flag and ask for the country. Paint the Flag turns it around: you get the country and have to rebuild its flag. The easy flags are the simple tricolors everyone has seen. The hard ones have five or more parts, near-identical shades and emblems to work around. A flag only counts as mastered when every part is right, so the Atlas becomes a true record of the flags you really know.

Frequently asked questions
How do you play Paint the Flag?
You get the name of a country and a blank flag. Pick a paint and tap each stripe, cross, star or disc to fill it. When every part is painted, check your flag: every part with the right color is correct, and the wrong parts are outlined so you can try again.
Do I need to know the exact shade?
The palette has 15 paints, including near shades like navy and blue or gold and yellow. The right shade scores full marks and a near shade scores half, so a flag only reaches 100% when every shade is right.
How many flags are there?
All 195 countries are included, sorted into Easy, Medium and Hard. Flags with a coat of arms or a detailed emblem show the emblem already drawn, and you paint the rest.
What happens if I get a flag wrong?
The real flag stays hidden. You see which parts are wrong and can try again, keeping the parts you got right. If you want, you can drag a line across your flag to see the real colors, but then that flag can earn only one star.
Is Paint the Flag free?
Yes, every flag is free to play with no account. Mastered flags earn points towards your explorer rank, and your progress is saved on every device once you sign in.
