Our new game GeoAzimuth is live: a hidden city sits in the middle of a compass, and every arrow points from it to a real city at its true bearing. Read the angles, picture the map and name the city in the middle.
It is a different kind of geography question. You do not need to know which country a city is in - you need to know where it sits compared to everything around it.
How it works
- You get 5 tries per level. Every wrong guess is added to the compass as a red arrow, so each miss gives you another clue.
- The list under the compass also tells you which way the hidden city lies from your guess, like "hidden city is NE".
- Every puzzle is checked before you see it: no other city in the region fits all the arrows, so there is always exactly one answer.
- When the level ends, a map centred on the hidden city shows exactly where every arrow was pointing.
Five difficulty bands
Each region is a ladder of around 100 levels. Easy and Medium show the distance to every arrow city. Hard shows angles only. Expert gives you four arrows and Master only three, and the hidden cities get less famous as you climb. Fast solves earn stars, and every level counts toward your explorer rank.
13 regions
Start with World or Europe, or zoom in on one country: the UK, the USA, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Denmark, Norway and Sweden. The country regions are the hardest test of your mental map, because every city is close to the others.
One hidden city a day
