Geo Grid
Nine guesses, one grid
Every square needs a country that matches its row and its column. Pick the countries nobody else thinks of - the rarer your answer, the lower your score.

How Geo Grid works
A three-by-three crossword made of countries. It takes thirty seconds to understand and a lot longer to master.
How to play
- Tap any empty square.
- Name a country that matches the clue on its row and the clue on its column.
- You get nine guesses for nine squares, so every wrong answer costs you a square.
- A country can only be used once per grid.
Rarity beats speed
Each correct answer scores the percentage of players who picked the same country. France in a "borders Germany" square is worth a lot of points; Luxembourg is worth almost none.
Lower is better. An unfilled square costs a flat 100. A perfect grid of obvious answers can still lose to a half-empty grid of obscure ones.
Clues you will meet
- Continents and borders
- Official languages
- Flag colours
- Island and landlocked countries
- Population, area and first letter
- EU, euro and Olympic hosts
Tips
- Start with the square you are surest about - a wrong guess costs the same as a right one.
- Small countries usually score better than famous ones. Andorra beats France every time.
- Read both clues before you answer. Half the mistakes are a country that matches only the row.
- If a square looks impossible, leave it: an empty square costs 100, and so does a wrong guess.
