Meet the country
Each level is one country and a target: half, a third, a quarter or a tenth of its land.

Draw one line
Drag a straight line across the map and fine-tune it by dragging either end. The line runs on across the whole country.

Cut, and the country splits in two. The side closer to the target counts, and a gold line shows the perfect cut at your angle.

You score 100 points minus 10 for every percentage point off. 50 earns 1 star, 75 earns 2 and 90 earns 3.

Can you cut a country in half by eye?
Halving a shape sounds easy until the shape is Norway, Indonesia or Chile. Geo Split: Area tests your eye for size: one straight line, and one side has to hold exactly the right share of the land.
The areas are true areas on the globe, so a cut across Canada or Kazakhstan is scored on real square kilometres, not on the stretched shapes of a flat map. Far-off islands and overseas territories are left out, so every country is one map you can read at a glance.

Is Geo Split free?
Yes. Levels 1-40 are free for everyone, levels 41-60 need a free account and levels 61-80 are part of GeoFun+.
How is my cut scored?
The side of your line that is closer to the target counts. You get 100 points minus 10 for every percentage point off: 48.5% on a halving level is 1.5 points off, so 85 points.
Why does my score drop when I retry?
After a cut you see the perfect line, so a retry could just copy it. Your first try can reach 100, the second 85, the third 70 and every try after that 60, which is still enough to pass.
Are the areas real?
Yes. Each country is measured on the globe, so land far from the equator is not counted bigger than it is. Lakes inside the border count as part of the country.
What is the hint?
It marks the centre of the land, the point a country would balance on. It costs 15 points.
