How to play Country Riddles

    Read the first clue

    Every riddle starts with one clue: how many people live in the country and how big it is.

    Make a guess

    Type a country and pick it from the list. A wrong guess shows how it compares - same continent? more people? bigger? - and unlocks the next clue.

  3. 3

    Follow the clues

    Continent and coast, a greeting and the money, the shape, the neighbours and finally half of the flag. Six clues in all.

  4. 4

    Earn stars

    Solve it with 1-2 clues for 3 stars, 3-4 clues for 2 stars, 5-6 clues for 1 star. Fewer clues also means more points.

About Country Riddles

Country Riddles is a geography riddle game: each level hides one of the world's 196 countries, and you name it from the clues. Every wrong guess is not wasted - it tells you whether you are on the right continent and whether the country is bigger or smaller, and opens the next clue.

The levels go from easy riddles about famous countries to expert riddles about tiny island nations and countries few people could find on a map. After each riddle you learn a fact about the country, so every level teaches you something new.

Country Riddles FAQ

How do you guess the country from clues?

Start with the size clue and think of countries of that size. Then use what every wrong guess tells you: whether the hidden country is on the same continent, has more or fewer people and is bigger or smaller. Each wrong guess also opens a new clue, from the continent to the flag.

What happens if I run out of clues?

After the sixth clue, one more wrong guess ends the level and shows you the answer with a fact about it. Try again deals you a new riddle of the same difficulty, so you never replay the answer you were just shown.

Is Country Riddles free?

Yes. The first 7 riddles are open to everyone. A free account unlocks the rest of the levels up to 79 and saves your progress on every device; the last levels are for GeoFun+ players with 1,000 points or more.

How many points can I earn?

Harder levels pay more, and so does solving a riddle with fewer clues: from 5 points up to 15 points for an expert riddle solved on the first clue. Replaying a level you have already solved pays less each time.

Is Country Riddles good for learning geography?

Yes. Each riddle makes you think about a country's size, location, neighbours, language and flag, and ends with a fun fact. It is a playful way to learn all the countries of the world, for kids and adults.
