About ReMap Africa: Place African Countries by Shape

ReMap Africa is a geography puzzle that tests how well you know the African map by shape alone. African countries are removed and shown as pieces on the side. Drag each piece back to its correct outline. No labels — just outlines and your memory of Africa.

How to Play ReMap Africa

  1. Choose a difficulty: Easy (fewer countries), Medium, or Hard (more African countries to place).
  2. Look at the Africa map: empty outlines show where each country belongs.
  3. Drag a piece from the right panel and drop it onto the matching outline on the map.
  4. Correct placement fills the outline and counts toward your score. Wrong placement costs a life (you have three).
  5. Use the + / − buttons or mouse wheel to zoom; drag the map to pan across Africa.
  6. Place every piece before you run out of lives to win. Your time is recorded.

Tips for ReMap Africa

  • Start with distinctive shapes (e.g. Madagascar, South Africa, Egypt, Nigeria) to build confidence.
  • Use the zoom controls — many African borders are straight lines and shapes can look similar.
  • Easy mode is great for learning African geography; move to Medium and Hard as you improve.

Why Play ReMap Africa?

ReMap Africa sharpens your knowledge of African geography by shape. With 54 countries and many straight-line borders, the continent is one of the trickiest to reconstruct. Try ReMap World, Europe, Asia, or US States for other regions.

ReMap Africa – Frequently Asked Questions

How do I play ReMap Africa?

Drag African country pieces from the right panel and drop them onto the matching outline on the Africa map. Correct placements stay; wrong ones cost a life. Place all pieces before losing three lives to win.

What do Easy, Medium, and Hard mean in ReMap Africa?

They set how many African countries you must place: Easy has fewer (e.g. 10), Medium more (e.g. 28), and Hard the most. The map outlines and pieces change with each difficulty.

Can I zoom and pan the Africa map?

Yes. Use the + and − buttons on the map, or the mouse wheel, to zoom. Click and drag the map to pan. A reset button returns the view to the default.

Is ReMap Africa free?

Yes. ReMap Africa is free to play in your browser. You can also play ReMap World, Europe, Asia, and US States with no sign-up required.

Why did my placement count as wrong in ReMap Africa?

Each outline matches exactly one African country. Dropping a piece on the wrong outline costs one life. Use zoom to compare shapes; many African borders are straight lines and can look similar.
